As summer wraps up, Labor Day weekend offers that final moment in the sun, a last hurrah before we welcome the cooler fall days ahead. Celebrating the End of Summer with Delicious Recipes for Labor Day
As a kid, Labor Day was by no means my favorite holiday. Back to school started the following day, so for me, it was pretty much the most mournful holiday. However, the tides have changed, and now I see it as a beautiful opportunity to celebrate.

Summer at 60 years old is like being at an adult summer camp—it’s been so much fun to stay up late and indulge a little bit too much in all of the adult activities. Every night is an adventure, and every day brings a new taste or experience.
Here are just a few of the highlights from my summer of 2023:

Harvest Highlights: Making the Most of Summer’s Bounty
I love to incorporate as much of the summer harvest as I can into my Labor Day menu. There’s something magical about the season’s flavors, from sun-ripened tomatoes to fresh sweet corn.

I love hitting the farmers market for all the fresh fruits and vegetables; there’s undeniable excitement in discovering new ingredients and creating recipes around them. The vibrant colors, the aromatic scents, and the unbeatable freshness make every trip a culinary adventure.

While developing my recipe for Lobster Nachos, I decided to share batches with my neighbors. The response was overwhelmingly positive, and it warmed my heart to see how much they loved this dish.
Rosalia’s daughter even exclaimed, “This is the best thing I have ever tasted! I’m loving them—thank you!” Such messages of appreciation inspire me to keep experimenting and creating delectable dishes that bring joy to others.

Smashburger with Special Sauce
There is no doubt about it; this is the Smashburger of the century!
Don’t take my word for it; just read this 5-star review: “Made this tonight for dinner, and it was a hit! My husband said it tasted like a Freddy’s burger. The ultimate burger compliment. The sauce recipe just brought it all together. I added some Maceo’s Steak Seasoning to it. This just upped my burger game, thanks!” -Katbird

Copycat Campfire Restaurant Charred Broccoli
Recently on my annual girls’ trip, we went to a fantastic restaurant in Carlsbad, California, called Campfire. The number one most popular dish that everyone gets is Charred Broccoli. It was amazing. The funny part is that I’ve never been a huge fan of broccoli. I prefer broccolini. But their incredible dish made of charred broccoli tossed with a lime vinaigrette, topped with hot maple peanuts, and drizzled with Chermoula Aioli could make me a convert!

I’ve always loved a Sundae…I mean, who doesn’t? What’s not to love about scoops of decadent ice cream piled high with the most fabulous ice cream toppings, like hot fudge, candy bars, nuts, and sprinkles?
Sundaes are fun for kids, but you definitely don’t have to be a kid to enjoy one.
