Description

This Blackberry Widow is the perfect halloween cocktail. It’s refreshing, but it has all the flavors of fall you love!

Ingredients

For the Blackberry Fall Syrup:

¼ cup light brown sugar

¼ cup water

8 fresh blackberries

3 whole cloves

1 Fresh rosemary sprig

½ teaspoon lemon zest

½ teaspoon juice of a lemon

For the cocktail:

4 fresh blackberries, plus more for garnish

Crushed Ice

0.5 oz blackberry fall syrup

0.5 oz freshly squeezes lemon juice

2 ounces gin (we used Hendricks) *see note for Mocktail
4 ounces Blackberry Spindrift

Rosemary sprig, to garnish

Instructions

Make the Blackberry Fall Syrup:

In a small sauté pan, over medium high heat at the brown sugar, water and blackberries. Stir to combine and until the sugar has completely dissolved for about 2 minutes. Using the back of the spoon, crush the blackberry to let the juices come out?. Add the cloves, rosemary, lemon zest and lemon juice. Bring to a low simmer and immediately turn off heat. Using a strainer to get only the blackberry syrup. Set aside.

Note: The blackberry fall syrup can last up to two weeks in an air tight container in the fridge, but best to use freshly done.

Make the cocktail:

In a mason jar or a shaker, muddle some blackberries, add the ice, syrup, lemon juice, and choice of alcohol. Put on the lid and shake constantly until all is incorporated and iced cold. In a glass, pour some crushed ice. Using a strainer pour the drink over the ice. Add the Blackberry Spindrift, then garnish with rosemary and more blackberries and enjoy!

Notes

*You can make the drink with vodka, or use Elderflower Lemonade to make a mocktail. If you use a sparkling Elderflower Lemonade, do not shake it and instead add it at the same time as the Spindrift.
