The Key to Crispy Whole30 Wings

If you’ve made my Everyday Roasted Chicken Breasts or my Heroine Chicken, you know that it is all about the baste! When you bake Whole30 wings, it is easy to end up with a soggy finished product. To avoid that, we start by cooking the wings covered. This draws out the lovely juices, and after 30 minutes, we baste like crazy.

Once they are nice and basted, continue to roast uncovered at 400 for 15 minutes. Now we will start to get some crisp on the wings, but our final step makes it super crispy. Finally, blast the oven to 450 and cook for 15-20 minutes more. The final result is the crispiest Whole30 wings ever!

How to Dress Your Whole30 Wings

What is a chicken wing without some lovely ranch to dip it into? Obviously, if you’re keeping these Whole30, you can’t use just any ranch. That’s why I absolutely love having Tessemae’s ranch dressings on hand! The creamy ranch is the perfect classic flavor, but I love serving it with their habanero ranch as well for a little kick on the wings.

While I love my own Magic Elixirs, Tessemae’s is so perfect for keeping things easy and Whole30. I always have some on hand in the fridge and pantry. On a day like the Super Bowl where you want to make something delicious but not spend the entire day in the kitchen, Tessemae’s to the rescue!

These Whole30 wings are perfect for a Super Bowl appetizer! They are a crowd favorite, whether you’re doing Whole30 or not!

Ingredients

1/3 cup extra virgin olive oil

6 tablespoons freshly squeeze lime juice

2 tablespoons smoked paprika

1 – 2 tablespoons juice from fresh ginger

1 tablespoons juice from fresh turmeric

2 dozen wings

2 ½ tablespoons Kosher salt

1 bunch of cilantro, chipped

6 cloves garlic, peeled and sliced

2 teaspoons Aleppo Pepper

1 bottle Tessemae’s Organic Habanero Ranch

1 bottle Tessemae’s Organic Creamy Ranch

Instructions

Preheat oven to 375F.

In a medium bowl, whisk together olive oil and lime juice, then add paprika and stir until dissolved.

Shred and squeeze ginger and turmeric by hand, discard pulp and add juice to marinade.

In a large bowl, add the wings. Sprinkle the salt all over the wings and using your hand toss to coat them thoroughly on both sides. Place the wings in a container and pour half of the marinade over. Flip and add the rest of the marinade to coat evenly. Sprinkle the cilantro, garlic cloves and Aleppo pepper and toss again. Cover and refrigerate overnight is possible, otherwise, 1 – 2 hours.

Prepare a parchment-lined baking sheet and place the wings on to the pan. Pour every drop of marinade over them and cover tightly with foil.

Bake for 30 minutes. Remove from the oven and remove the foil. Carefully, pour the juices from the chicken wings into a small bowl. Baste the wings with the juices. Turn the heat up to 400F.  and place in the oven uncovered for 15 minutes. Remove from the oven and turn up the heat to 450F. Baste the wings and continue to cook for 15 – 20 more minutes. Total cooking time is about 1 hour, when wings are a deep golden brown, they are ready, but if you like your wings crispy, add a little time.

Remove from the oven and serve with the Tessemae’s Habanero Ranch and Tessemae’s Creamy Ranch to dip in the wings. So delicious and enjoy!
